The climb to Lobuche East Peak begins with a trek through Nepal’s famous Everest region, following portions of the classic Everest Base Camp route before reaching Lobuche village and the mountain’s high camp.

The summit ascent involves glacier travel, steep snow and ice slopes, and a narrow summit ridge that requires the use of crampons, an ice axe, fixed ropes, and mountaineering techniques. While not considered an extreme expedition peak, Lobuche East is significantly more technical than many of Nepal’s trekking peaks and provides an excellent introduction to alpine climbing in the high Himalayas.
